Own Japan’s 1998 long-sleeve away shirt, worn by Nakata and Nanami during their debut World Cup campaign. A retro classic.

This is the fully-customizable long-sleeve away kit for the Japan 1998 World Cup campaign.

This kit represents a special moment for Japanese supporters, as their team qualified for the World Cup for the first time ever, making the Japanese join the biggest football celebrations on the world stage.

However, the Japanese didn’t fare well at all in that World Cup, losing every single one of their matches and crashing out of the group stage. They lost 1-0 in the opening match to Argentina, 1-0 to Croatia, then 2-1 to Jamaica in their last match. It was a tough group to get out of, however, as the Croatians finished 3rd that World Cup and Argentina is a superpower. Moreover, they played the Jamaicans after being demoralized from their first two matches, which they lost narrowly by 1-0, which is a very respectable performance. We also have the spectacular goalkeeper Japan 1998 jersey with the Kawaguchi imprint on our store.

Notable Players: Hidetoshi Nakata, Hiroshi Nanami, Motohiro Yamaguchi, Masami Ihara, Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi

Japan’s 2000 Asian Cup long-sleeve kit, worn by Nakata and Nakamura as Japan won the tournament vs Saudi Arabia. A retro jersey – shop today.

This is the fully-customizable long-sleeve home kit for Japan’s 2000 Asian Cup campaign.

This Japanese shirt represents a very successful tournament, the 2000 AFC Asian Cup. The Japanese were the favorites from the start, and they didn’t deceive at all.

They dominated the group stage with 2 wins and 1 draw, beating Saudi Arabia by 4-1 and Uzbekistan with a crazy 8-1, before drawing 1-1 in their final match against Qatar. This completed their qualification for the Quarter-finals, where they met Irak. The Iraqis were no match for the Japanese in this shirt, and the Nippons beat them by the score of 4-1. The semi-final was much tighter, as they had to beat China with a score of 3-2 in a very tight match in which they trailed 2-1 in the 48th minute.

In the final, they met Saudi Arabia, which they had already beaten 4-1 in the group stage. However, the match was much tighter and the Japanese won with only a 1-0 advance. Saudi Arabia even had a penalty in the match, which they missed. The match was decided by Mochizuki in the 30th minute, as he scored with a fine flick after a great cross inside the 6-yard box.

Notable Players: Hidetoshi Nakata, Junichi Inamoto, Masashi Nakayama, Akinori Nishizawa, Shinji Ono, Shunsuke Nakamura, Naoki Matsuda, Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi, Shigeyoshi Mochizuki

Relive the 1993-94 ‘Agony of Doha’ with Japan’s away kit, worn by Ramos and Ihara in their failed World Cup bid. A nostalgic retro jersey.

This is the fully-customizable short-sleeve away kit for Japan’s 1993-1994 period.

This shirt represents the final years of Japanese suffering in worldwide football as the pride nation was inches away from qualifying for the 1994 World Cup in the USA. This would’ve been the first time ever they qualified for the World Cup.

However, a crushing draw to Iraq meant that Japan was left without a spot in the final tournament in 1994. Tetsuji Hashiratani led this side as a captain who ended up with over 70 caps for the national team. Masami Ihara was just coming onto the scene, and he would go on to succeed Hashiratani as the captain, playing 122 times for his national team.

Japan’s 1993-94 long-sleeve away jersey, from the heartbreak of missing USA 94 qualification. A meaningful retro shirt for fans.

This is the fully-customizable long-sleeve away kit for Japan’s 1993-1994 period.

This Japanese shirt represents perhaps the saddest moment in Japanese footballing history. As they were competing for the 1994 World Cup qualifications, they needed a win in their last match to go into their first-ever World Cup.

However, the Iraqis caused a massive heartbreak when, after trailing nearly all match, they scored in the 91st minute to equalize the encounter. This moment is still known as the “Agony of Doha”, and is remembered by Japanese fans as a failure, even though the team has qualified for 6 World Cups in a row after that.

This is the fully-customizable short-sleeve home kit for Japan’s 2000 Asian Cup campaign.

This is the fully-customizable short-sleeve home kit for the Japan 1998 World Cup campaign.

Japan’s 2002 World Cup home kit, worn by Inamoto and Nakata as co-hosts reached the Round of 16. A historic retro jersey – buy today.

This is the fully-customizable short-sleeve home kit for Japan’s 2002 World Cup campaign.

This Japanese shirt represents the country’s first knockout run in the World Cup, as they went through their group and only lost in the Round of 16 against Turkey. This is, and remains, the deeper they went in the World Cup, as they lost in the Round of 16 two other times, in 2010 and 2018.

The team had some brilliant players in midfielders Nakata, Inamoto, and Ono, providing for strikers Nakayama & Nishizawa. This was a great team that crushed its group, drawing with Belgium in its first match just before beating both Russia and Tunisia and finishing on top with 7 points. They had, however, the bad luck of tumbling on Turkey in the Round of 16, a country which went on to finish third in that World Cup.

Japan’s 2006 World Cup home shirt, worn by Nakata and Nakamura in the group stage. A nostalgic retro jersey – order today.

This is the fully-customizable short-sleeve home kit for Japan’s 2006 World Cup campaign.

This Japanese shirt represents the country’s brave fighting spirit which they displayed in the World Cup in Germany in 2006. Japan’s manager in the tournament was the legendary Brazilian player, Zico.

They played their first match against Australia and took the early lead when Shunsuke Nakamura scored in the 26th minute. They held on bravely, only to fall in the 84th minute with Cahill tying the match. After that goal, the Japanese completely fell apart, conceding two more goals to lose 3-1 in the end.

They managed to scrape a 0-0 draw versus Croatia in the second fixture with a great performance from the team’s captain, Tsuneyasu Miyamoto. However, the latest obstacle was simply too big, as star-studded Brazil was waiting. Japan actually took the lead and finished the first half in front. However, similarly to the Australia match, the Brazilians put the pedal to the metal and won 4-1 in the end, helped by Ronaldo’s brace that knocked Japan out of the tournament.

Notable Players: Hidetoshi Nakata, Tsuneyasu Miyamoto, Shunsuke Nakamura, Mitsuo Ogasawara, Naohiro Takahara
