This is the fully-customizable short-sleeve home kit for Croatia’s 2002 World Cup campaign.

This kit represents a Croatian side that still came from its high 4 years earlier, as they finished 3rd in the 1998 World Cup. For the 2002 World Cup, the team had some renewed energy with new players combining with veterans, and the small baltic country expected a lot from the team.

However, the team failed to live up to its expectations, as they went out extremely early, in the group stage. Their first match was against Mexico, a team which was strong but they were expected to beat. However, a Cuauhtémoc Blanco penalty in the 60th minute was the only goal of the encounter, and the Croats lost by 1-0 in this shirt. Their second match came against Italy, and although they were much stronger than Mexico, the Croats rose to the occasion and beat them by 2-1. Their two goals were scored between the 73rd and 76th minute, as they beat an Italian team that went on to win the World Cup 4 years later. Finally, tragedy struck in their last group match, which was also supposed to be their easiest as they played Ecuador. The match finished in tragedy as the Ecuadorians scored in the 48th minute to make it 1-0, a score which sent the Croatians home as they couldn’t overturn it.

This is a special shirt for any Croatian football fan as they recorded bronze in their first-ever World Cup after the end of the war. The World Cup was held in France, and the hosts turned out to be the eventual winners. En route to the final, the French team beat the Croats, who gathered enough strength and won the third-place match.

The Croatian team is remembered for stunning Germany in the quarter-finals, as Šuker kept scoring in this tournament, racking up five goals, with Vlaovic trailing him just by one with four. A fun fact is that Croatia was knocked out with two goals from Lillian Thuram. This wouldn’t be anything so surprising if those two goals weren’t the only ones Thuram ever scored for France in more than 80 appearances. This kit represents one of the biggest results in the history of Croatian sport. The World Cup 1998 held in France marked the first one for Croatia after the Balkan war ended. Croatia was a bit lucky to be drawn in the same group as Jamaica and Japan, with Argentina the obvious favorite. Croatia, as expected, beat Japan and Jamaica, with Šuker scoring 3 goals in this jersey in those two matches.

The quarter-finals saw them face-off against heavily-favored Germany. However, the Croats dominated in the 3-0 win which saw Jarni, Vlaovic, and Šuker enter the goalscoring sheet for the match. In the semi-finals, they were matched up with the host, France, where Lillian Thuram scored his only two goals ever for France in over 80 matches, which saw the French through to the final. Croatia recovered and beat the Netherlands with goals from Prosinečki and Šuker. Šuker ended the tournament with five goals to his name, just in front of Bokšić who had 4, after which Boban, and the famous manager Slaven Bilić, had scored three goals apiece.
