Description
This is the fully-customizable short-sleeve home kit for Mexico’s 1970 World Cup campaign on home soil.
The 1970 World Cup marked a historic event for Mexico, as they hosted the prestigious tournament for the first time. The national team, clad in their iconic green jerseys, delivered a performance that remains memorable for many football enthusiasts. Under the guidance of head coach Raúl Cárdenas, Mexico aimed to make a significant impact on their home soil.
Mexico was placed in Group 1, alongside the Soviet Union, Belgium, and El Salvador. Their campaign began with a tense and hard-fought 0-0 draw against the Soviet Union in front of a massive crowd of 107,160 at the Estadio Azteca. This match demonstrated Mexico’s defensive resilience and set the stage for their subsequent games.
In their second group match, Mexico faced El Salvador. The team showcased their attacking prowess, securing a comprehensive 4-0 victory. Goals from Javier Valdivia (who scored twice in quick succession), Javier Fragoso, and Juan Ignacio Basaguren highlighted Mexico’s dominance. This win was celebrated by over 103,000 passionate fans and boosted the team’s confidence heading into their final group game.
Mexico’s final group stage match was against Belgium, a game that would determine their advancement to the knockout stages. A crucial penalty converted by captain Gustavo Peña secured a 1-0 victory, ensuring Mexico’s progression. This victory, witnessed by an enthusiastic crowd of 108,192, solidified Mexico’s second-place finish in the group, level on points and goal difference with the Soviet Union but separated by a drawing of lots.
Advancing to the quarter-finals for the first time in their history, Mexico faced a formidable Italian side. The match, held in Toluca, began promisingly for Mexico, with José Luis González scoring early to give them the lead. However, Italy’s experience and skill turned the tide. An own goal by Javier Guzmán, coupled with strikes from Luigi Riva and Gianni Rivera, culminated in a 4-1 defeat for Mexico. Despite the loss, the team’s journey to the quarter-finals was a significant achievement and a proud moment for Mexican football.

It all started when we were around 5 or 6 years old…
We would go to school in the day, and then go back home. Then, we’d be out and about for the rest of the day. We were playing football with the rest of the kids from around our home all day.
We were playing for hours, and we never stopped, even if our moms called us to get inside. We would yell “10 more minutes!”, right before spending another two hours on the field.
It didn’t matter whether it was sunny, rainy, or there was a snowstorm. We were still playing, from Spring to Winter, every single day.
And we were wearing the same jerseys you can find on our store. We are more than a jersey company…
We want to help you Relive the Memories Through Old-School Jerseys.
