Andrés Iniesta Luján was born on May 11, 1984. Iniesta, who is regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time, has spent the majority of his career with Barcelona, where he captained the team for three seasons.

After leaving his birthplace at a young age, Iniesta entered La Masia, the youth academy in Barcelona, and made an impression right away. In 2002, he made his first-team debut at the age of 18. During the 2004–05 season, he started participating frequently, and he stayed with the team through 2018. Iniesta is the most decorated Spanish footballer of all time with 35 trophies, including nine La Liga championships and four UEFA Champions League crowns. He was a crucial member of the Barcelona teams who captured the two historic trebles in 2009 and 2015. Iniesta left Barcelona after 22 years and signed with Vissel Kobe in Japan the following year.

Before making his debut for Spain at the international level in 2006, Iniesta competed in the Under-16, Under-19, and Under-21 levels. He participated in every game and was chosen for the Tournament Team, which helped Spain win the UEFA Euro 2008 tournament. At the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Iniesta was an integral part of the Spanish side that won. He scored the game-winning goal against the Netherlands in the championship match, earning him the title of Man of the Match and a spot on the All-Star Team. At UEFA Euro 2012, Iniesta helped Spain win their second consecutive continental championship. He was also voted Player of the Tournament and was once again selected as Man of the Match for the final versus Italy.

Nine times Iniesta was selected for the FIFA FIFPro World XI, and six times he was picked for the UEFA Team of the Year. He was included in the UEFA Euro All-Time XI. He was named the IFFHS World’s Best Playmaker in 2012 and 2013 in addition to winning the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award in 2012. Iniesta came in second place to Lionel Messi for the FIFA Ballon d’Or in 2010 and finished third in 2012.
