Description

This is the fully-customizable short-sleeve home kit for Spain’s 1988-1991 period.

Spain’s journey in the 1988 European Championship was marked by a mix of highs and lows as they donned their classic red and yellow jerseys. Managed by Miguel Muñoz, Spain was drawn into Group 1 alongside West Germany, Italy, and Denmark. The competition commenced with an intense match against Denmark on June 11, 1988, at the Niedersachsenstadion in Hanover. Spain secured a 3-2 victory, with goals from Míchel, Emilio Butragueño, and Rafael Gordillo. This thrilling win highlighted Spain’s attacking prowess and gave them an early boost in the tournament.

However, the momentum didn’t carry into their subsequent matches. Spain faced Italy in their second group stage game at the Waldstadion in Frankfurt on June 14. Despite a strong defensive effort, a late goal by Italy’s Gianluca Vialli in the 73rd minute sealed a 1-0 defeat for Spain. The loss put Spain in a precarious position, needing a positive result in their final group match to advance.

Spain’s final group stage game was against the hosts, West Germany, on June 17 at the Olympiastadion in Munich. It was a challenging encounter as West Germany’s attack, led by Rudi Völler, proved too strong. Völler scored twice, once in each half, leading to a 2-0 defeat for Spain. This loss resulted in Spain finishing third in the group with one win and two losses, ultimately leading to their exit from the tournament.

In the 1990 FIFA World Cup, Spain showcased a commendable performance while donning their distinctive red and blue jerseys. Drawn into Group E, Spain faced Uruguay, South Korea, and Belgium in the group stages. The tournament kicked off for Spain with a 0-0 draw against Uruguay at the Stadio Friuli in Udine. This was a match characterized by a disciplined defensive display from both sides, leaving the Spanish attack frustrated and goalless.

Spain’s second group match against South Korea saw a much-improved offensive performance, with a standout hat-trick from Míchel. The match ended 3-1 in favor of Spain, highlighting their attacking prowess and securing a crucial three points. The victory against South Korea set the stage for their final group match against Belgium. In a tightly contested match, Spain emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, thanks to goals from Andoni Goikoetxea and Fernando Hierro. This result ensured Spain topped Group E with two wins and one draw, advancing to the knockout stages with confidence.

In the Round of 16, Spain faced Yugoslavia in a high-stakes encounter at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi in Verona. The match was intense and extended into extra time after a 1-1 deadlock during regular play, with Julio Salinas scoring for Spain. However, Yugoslavian forward Dragan Stojković netted his second goal in the 93rd minute, securing a 2-1 victory for Yugoslavia and ending Spain’s World Cup campaign. Despite the early exit, Spain’s journey in the 1990 World Cup was marked by resilient performances and memorable moments, particularly Míchel’s hat-trick, which remains a highlight in Spanish football history.

Main Points

  • The jersey is 100% polyester. It’s breathable, and made for a life on the move.
  • Fully customizable with the name and number of your favourite player or even yours! Just choose the Custom Jersey Option and then message us your desired name and number or write them in the order’s notes at checkout.
  • Replica (Fan) Version. In football jerseys, there are two types of jerseys, and two kinds of qualities. There is the Replica Version, also called Fan or Stadium version, as well as the Player (or Match) Issue version – which is what players actually wear. The Replica is meant for fans and is the entry-level option – but is still very high quality, while the Authentic version is made for players and features different, higher quality materials.
  • Tighter fit: make sure you choose the right sizing. We recommend buying one size bigger than you usually wear. This will ensure the jersey will fit.

Sizing Guidelines

This jersey comes in five sizes, which have a tiny difference: they’re a tiny bit smaller fit. Our suggestion: if you want a tighter fit, pick your normal size. If you want a slightly looser fit, pick one size bigger.

Sizing Normal S to XXL

It all started when we were around 5 or 6 years old…

We would go to school in the day, and then go back home. Then, we’d be out and about for the rest of the day. We were playing football with the rest of the kids from around our home all day.

We were playing for hours, and we never stopped, even if our moms called us to get inside. We would yell “10 more minutes!”, right before spending another two hours on the field.

It didn’t matter whether it was sunny, rainy, or there was a snowstorm. We were still playing, from Spring to Winter, every single day.

And we were wearing the same jerseys you can find on our store. We are more than a jersey company…

We want to help you Relive the Memories Through Old-School Jerseys.
